Oakland Fukuoka Sister City Association presents the Japanese Style Living Environment Webinar Series.

For thousands of years, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese collectors have sought out stones sculptured by nature that possess two highly prized qualities: beauty and a suggestive shape, such as a mountain, island, plateau, cove, or cliff. In this session, Dr. Vincent Covello will present how rocks, as suggestive objects, play a role in people’s aesthetic, emotional, and intellectual lives. Dr. Covello is an expert on Asian art and the aesthetics of rocks.
