Japan Outreach Initiative (JOI) Coordinator Daiki Suematsu organized the first Japanese Festival in Jackson, Mississippi. Over 1,600 people enjoyed traditional and modern Japanese performances, including Taiko, Iaido, Dance, Kendama, as well as a Cosplay & Asian Fashion show and Amateur Talent Show. Visitors could try hands-on activities at various booths, such as calligraphy, yukata, yo-yo fishing, traditional toys, paper dyeing, uchiwa fan making, and more. Japanese summer snacks, such as shaved ice and tea were also available to taste.
