About
EngageAsia has announced that applications are now open for their summer workshop on Japanese trades and crafts.
EngageAsia’s summer workshop, “Japanese Craftsmanship, Technical Education, and Culture,” will provide high school teachers and students with an opportunity to explore Japanese trades and crafts from the perspective of tradespeople who work across Japan and the U.S. Each virtual workshop session will feature an expert specializing in a Japanese craft. The speakers will share their philosophy and approach to their craft, and participants will engage in discussions on key themes and ideas that emerge from the talks. Workshop topics include carpentry, tea ceremony, culinary arts, boat building, and calligraphy.
The workshop is open to high school teachers and students in the U.S. and Japan and will take place virtually from July 13 to August 5, 2021.
