On the 25th anniversary of his death, the Milwaukee Symphony pays homage to Japanese composer Toru Takemitsu (1930-1996). Three of his compositions from the 1980s surround music by Gounod and Ravel make an appropriate contrast: Takemitsu’s earliest works were influenced by French composers.
