Outline This grant supports a summer study abroad program in Japan for health care professionals. Students spend two weeks in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Hiroshima visiting various hospitals and healthcare centers. Guest speakers with experience in the Japanese healthcare system are invited to educate participants. Indiana University’s goal is to establish long-term connections with Japanese universities.

Outline This grant supports an exhibit of Japanese art from the Library’s Special Collections Division. The project includes a series of public lectures and workshops. There will be an illustrated catalogue and website created for the exhibition.

Project Title Revitalizing the Japan Studies Minor within the Asian Studies Program

Outline This grant supports the extension of Spelman’s course offerings in Japanese Studies by preparing faculty to teach two new or existing (but dormant) courses. Faculty will attend conferences, conduct research in Japan, and engage in curriculum development.
