Project TitleUS-Japan Program on Healthy and Resilient Aging (Year 1)
OutlineBuilding on exchanges conducted in 2023 and early 2025, JCIE USA will organize community-level dialogues focusing on the challenges and opportunities of aging over a two-year project. They will identify a pair of communities in the US and Japan that are conducting innovative work to address the needs of their older residents, including work to protect them from climate change and natural disaster risks.

In the first year, a five-person multisectoral delegation from the US community will spend one week in Japan to connect with their counterpart community and learn about Japanese approaches to promoting resilient aging at both the community and the national level.

In the second year, JCIE will conduct the reverse exchange program, bringing a similar group of community leaders from Japan to the US.  They will also organize an online workshop for alumni of this program.

Despite its growing importance in defense, educational and public engagement on space security is limited. This initiative seeks to address this gap by developing an undergraduate course on U.S.-Japan Space Security Cooperation within ERAU’s Security Studies and International Affairs Department and by hosting public lectures with leading American and Japanese space experts.
