About
One year has passed since we lost Akira Toriyama, the Japanese manga artist who created one of the greatest and most influential manga and anime franchise ever made, Dragon Ball. As soon as the news spread around the world, many fans in the U.S., especially from Black and Latin communities, spoke of the impact Dragon Ball had on their lives and mourned his passing. At the same time, hundreds of people all over Latin America took to the streets and expressed their love and celebration of Akira Toriyama.
What is it about Dragon Ball that inspires such reverence, especially among Black and Latin American audiences?
Come join our panel discussion with four Dragon Ball experts: Derek Padula, Dexter Thomas, Dani Fernandez, and Camilo Díaz Pino. They will dive deep into the history and legacy of Dragon Ball and its effect on Black and Latin American fandoms.
The discussion will be followed by a live Q&A. If you have any questions about Dragon Ball and its effect on fandom, now’s your chance to ask the experts! Please also feel free to share how Dragon Ball has impacted you. You can post your questions and comments on the Eventbrite page when you register. Live commentary will also be enabled on the YouTube stream, so you can participate in the Q&A session.
This is a FREE event. Registrants will receive the link to the stream via email.
We look forward to seeing you there!
