Registration is open for the July 9-15 Japan-America Grassroots Summit, a unique weeklong US-Japan grassroots exchange for all ages. This year, participants will be introduced to Wakayama’s rich history (Koyasan temples), culture (Kumano pilgrimage trail), and nature, and to the people of Wakayama through homestays and local community activities.
The lasting friendships that result are the essence of the Grassroots Summit, which commemorates the legendary friendship of Nakahama (John) Manjiro and Captain William Whitfield, who met 182 years ago and helped establish US-Japan relations. To participate in the Grassroots Summit is to be in touch with history. (No Japanese language requirement.)
Register here by May 15 (Early-bird discount: Feb 29)
