Arts & Cultural Exchange

The Japan Foundation is a vital contributor to world culture and the arts. We provide funding and exchange opportunities for individuals and institutions across the spectrum of artistic and cultural disciplines, by supporting and initiating cross-cultural programs and events including exhibitions, film screening, and festivals. The Japan Foundation carries out arts and cultural exchange programs to enhance mutual understanding between Japan and the United States.

EARTH MANUAL PROJECT – This Could Save Your Life

Earth Manual Project – This Could Save Your Life is an exhibition collaboration between The Japan Foundation Asia Center and Parsons School of Design/The New School, in cooperation with Design and Creative Center Kobe (KIITO) / Plus Arts.

International transportation for this exhibition is generously supported by ANA (All Nippon Airways Co., Ltd). This exhibition is made possible with the cooperation of the NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation). Special support is provided by the Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations. Special thanks to Japan Society, Inc., AIG Japan, MUJI (Ryohin Keikaku Co., Ltd.), and Procter & Gamble Japan.

Japan 2019
From March to December 2019

Japan 2019, following on the successful Japonismes 2018 in France, aims to broaden understanding of and interest in Japanese culture in the United States through two programs: the Japan 2019 Official Program featuring a series of events co-organized or supported by the Japan Foundation, mainly in New York and Washington, D.C., and the Japan 2019 Associated Program, featuring affiliated events organized by public and private entities to introduce Japanese culture and promote exchange between Japan and the U.S.

Yoroi · Japanese Armor Rental

The Japan Foundation New York has two Yoroi (Japanese Armor) sets that are available to loan, especially for cultural and educational events such as matsuri festivals!
Rentals are free, but borrowers are responsible for shipping costs.
