About

JapanFest brings a taste of Japan to the Southeastern United States. The festival seeks to promote understanding and appreciation of Japan’s rich culture through workshops, music, dance, and exhibits. The festival offers a variety of workshops such as flower arranging and wax food sculpting. Visitors can create and take home their own bonsai tree or dress up in a kimono.

JapanFest also features a variety of musical acts. Performances include Japanese dance, taiko drumming, shamisen, as well as martial arts demonstrations. This year’s special performances feature Waves of Harmony, a unique group of shamisen players; and HARIBOW, a Double Dutch jump rope troupe.

There is a children’s area where kids can learn origami, hear a Japanese story, or participate in a craft activity. The children can also participate in a parade carrying omikoshi.

The Ginza-dori, organized by the Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Georgia and named after Tokyo’s famous shopping district, features Japanese ceramics, traditional clothing and accessories and fun items such as masks and toys. It also offers ring toss, water yo-yos, candy floss, and other children’s activities. In addition, there are many vendors offering Japan-related products from anime products to green tea.

To satisfy visitors’ appetites, JapanFest features the best of Japanese cuisine in Atlanta offering a tantalizing menu of sushi, bento boxes, ramen noodles, takoyaki, kakigori shaved ice, curry rice, yakisoba, and more.

Japanese businesses in Georgia are also represented with booths that display and explain their products.

There is truly something for everyone to experience!

Discounted admission and parking tickets are available until Sep.18. Children 6 and under are free. Military and senior discounts available at the door only.
