About

The Japan Foundation, New York and Anime NYC co-organized a panel on the current state of the manga industry in the U.S. You will hear from manga industry professionals on how they have dealt with the pandemic – from the initial shutdown, to the rise in manga sales in 2020 and 2021, and the logistical challenges that each are facing today. The focus will then shift to the outlook for 2022 and beyond.

The discussion was moderated by Christopher Macdonald, CEO & publisher of Anime News Network. Panelists are Kevin Hamric (Vice President of Publishing Sales of VIZ Media) and Kurt Hassler (Publisher and Managing Director of Yen Press).
